This is a notification that effective 1 April 2012, PMI will be implementing a new exam rescheduling/cancellation fee. A fee of US$70 will be charged to you if you reschedule or cancel your computer-based test (CBT) within 30 days of your exam appointment.

The rescheduling/cancellation fee is a means to better serve you by allowing for greater seating availability at Prometric Testing Centers since seating is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. This new rule will not take the place of the existing policy which states you must reschedule or cancel your exam before you are within two days of your exam appointment or you will forfeit the entire exam fee.
This fee will be applied for all of PMI‘s certification and credentialing exams and is for computer-based exams.

If your exam is scheduled during the month of April, and you suspect you will need to change your appointment and want to avoid the new fee, please reschedule or cancel your exam before 1 April 2012 when the new rule goes into effect.

Please read your respective handbook and the FAQs document for full details on the new fee and existing policy.

Certifications most likely to land you a new job (By Toni Bowers)

Certifications most likely to land you a new job (By Toni Bowers) | Wednesday, 15 February 2012

Takeaway: PMP and CCNA lead the way for certifications that are in most demand.

Project Management Professional (PMP) is the most frequently desired certification according to the latest Dice report, with nearly 2,200 requests in job postings on any given day, up nine percent year/year.

Following close on the PMP's heels are CCNA certifications. Job postings for Cisco Certified Network Associates were at 1,200 on any given day, up 21% yr/yr. Entry-level network technicians have found CompTIA's Network+ certification helpful in job hunting.

Certified Information Systems Security Professionals (CISSP) certification is asked for frequently in IT jobs based in Washington, D.C. This is because that certification, along with Security+, is required of contractors by the Department of Defence.

ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) experience and expertise remains a top area. Dice says it is becoming even more vital, with service deliverability being so essential. Those with ITIL credentials can command a six-figure salary.

Here's the top-ten list from Dice:

You may recall that the major outcomes of the PgMP® RDS include:

The three evaluations for the PgMP® credential, which include the panel review, the examination, and the Multi-rater Assessment (MRA), are being updated to reflect changes to the role that were identified in the study.

The new RDS restructures the program management performance domains and tasks.

PMI recently updated their timeline for the exam change process:

The release date for the new PgMP exam has been changed from 1 January 2012 to 1 February 2012, providing candidates an additional three weeks to exam under the current structure.

As with any credential exam update that results from a RDS, exam reports will not be available to candidates immediately after they take the new exam. Candidates who take the exam after 1 February will receive exam reports by the end of May. This delay is required in order to validate the new exam structure. Once the new exam structure is validated, candidates will again receive their results immediately after completing the exam.

In order to implement the new exam efficiently, candidates will not be able to sit for the PgMP exam between 21 January and 31 January 2012. This period where the exam will be temporarily unavailable ensures Prometric facilities are appropriately administering the new PgMP exam across all testing centers globally on 1 February 2012.

Communications surrounding this information will be released to PgMP candidates, training organizations and other stakeholders in the coming days.
